What is BlackBox?
Interscope BlackBox is an easy-to-use, modular and extensible security suite that smoothly integrates into the Windows shell and makes your desktop a safer place.

It lets you secure files, documents and e-mail messages with only two mouse clicks or destroy beyond possibility of recovery any sensitive information. And it integrates into your favorite e-mail client too!

To achieve this security, it uses encryption and wiping.

Why use BlackBox?
It makes your computing experience safer. How can BlackBox do that? Well, just some examples when having BlackBox comes in handy:

• Worried about someone reading your files?
• Do you transfer files over unsafe networks?
• Your boss is reading your e-mail?

The answer to these questions is simple. Install BlackBox. Then stop worrying about the security of your sensitive files. This means other work may be paid more attention to.

With the help of BlackBox, at the distance of just two mouse clicks, you will be able to keep your files, documents and messages away from indiscreet and unwanted looks.

An overwiew of the new things:

Text encryption

• Ever wanted to encrypt your e-mail? Or some text you had on the clipboard? Now you can.
• You can now send encrypted e-mail to people who do not have BlackBox and they can still decrypt and read it. Directly on our website.
• And BlackBox now integrates into Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. Could not be easier!

Improved features

• Automate your security-related routine tasks using BlackBox's command line interface.
• It is now possible to upgrade the encryption strength by installing new encryption engines.
• When creating self-extracting archives, you can now also compress your data.
• You can now send your files securely by e-mail using the new context menu item Encrypt and Send...
• Consolidate (copy/move all objects in) your security set to a specified folder in one simple step.
• It is now possible to configure BlackBox so that it doesn't store the owner's login name in the encrypted files.

Improved security

• The new encryption engines available from Interscope (e.g. Blowfish) are safer than the old 56-bit DES.
• Authentication now uses TripleDES, thus greately improving encryption strength.

Faster processing

• The new encryption engines available from Interscope are also a lot faster.
• Processing of multiple files is now faster, due to the fact that worker threads that do the actual compression/encryption are now recycled.

Better shell integration

• All encryption-specific items in file and folder context menus can now be grouped in a submenu, thus reducing pollution of the Windows Explorer context menus.
• BlackBox now displays a tooltip (algorithm used to encrypt the file, original size, etc.) when a .des or .ibx file is selected in Windows Explorer.
• BlackBox no longer displays encryption-related items in the context menu when the Start button is right-clicked.
